i owned my '01 CR-V 2.0 EX 4WD for more than three years..on headlight assembly, the most arduous task belongs to the headlight bulbs. my honda civic headlight bulbs looks similar with purplish white with perfect illumination..once bulbs are defective, it shows further drawbacks in the entire head assembly..perhaps you could try surfing the net for headlight assembly topics.
