I have just purchased a new 2006 Accord EX-L v6 with the Nav system. My question is whether the nav system from the factory is better than an aftermarket portable such as from Garmin or Magellan? I have heard that the factory systems have internal gyroscopes that help with start up and accurracy. Any help here would be appreciated, becauase my wife who has an '04 Pilot wants my car with the nav system.

i've used both and there are really only 2 good things to say about built-in: they're out of the way (well, depends on who you're talking to) and the screens are big...in the new RL anyway.
Cons of built-in:
EXPENSIVE
hope it doesn't break...will get more expensive when the warranty's out
hard to see in the day and you can't move it
can't take that pricey piece of hardware with you
if you just have more money than you need, then it's a must have, but for the cash, i'd get a good handheld and pocket the extra almost 2 grand.
i use my Garmin 60CS in the car, on my bicycles, on the motorcycle and PWC and it gets me around just fine.
