Just found this forum tonight. Looking around it appears the audio/visual sub forum has some really useful info. Plus any forum where keep_hope_alive is active is a forum for me

I have a '15 Accord Sport 6MT for a bit over a year.

Here's what I've done:
  • Full door treatment (deadened, sound absorption, sealed, etc)
  • Rear deck treatment (deadened, sealed speaker adapters)
  • Custom rear corner sub enclosure
  • Amp shelf
  • Polk Audio db6501 up front
  • Polk Audio db651 in back
  • JL 10" sub
  • Audio Control LC7i
  • NVX JAD 900.5 5 channel amp

What's next:
  • Install touch screen with CarPlay in place of factory HU
  • Disassemble and bury factory HU so I keep the iMid
  • Ditch the LC7i as I'll have a clean 4V RCA signal from the aftermarket HU

Some of the biggest lessons learned so far:
  1. Adding and amp and changing speakers to quality components produces an incredibly bright (some would say harsh) sound. I think this is due the factory HU jacking up the high freqs to compensate for the lack of tweeters in the 4 speaker Accord. You're either going to need some processing or just replace the factory HU with something that produces a cleaner output.
  2. Treating the doors and deck is a must. I bought and installed all of the gear without treating - it was OK. Once I treated the doors, huge difference in sound quality. Much richer mid-bass. Better in every respect.
  3. Builiding a custom sub enclosure can be fun. Hard, time-consuming, messy, and smelly. But good experience.
  4. Treating doors is much more than simply deadening them. I deadened them, added sound absorbtion material inside the doors, sealed the speaker adapter with modelers clay, sealed it with deadener, used closed cell foam on top of everything to decouple and then mass loaded vinyl on top of that. End result was significant improvement in sound quality.

Some pics attached.
