Im currently tying to install speakers in my girlfriends 03 accord lx and im having alot of trouble. I got the rear 6x9's in no problem but now im trying to do the front door speakers. at first i had infinity reference 6.5's to put in but once i got the stock speaker out the infinity wouldnt fit in the hole because the back of the infinity speaker had some thick ridges on the back preventing the speaker from sitting level with the door. So i reutrned them for 6.5 mtx thinking they would fit but same problem. I then returned the 6.5 mtx speakers for 5.25" speakers which i was sure would fit but they dont either. Can someone tell me what the hell im doing wrong and what size speakers fit in these stupid holes. THanks!

 

most of the time aftermarket speakers will have bigger magnets or a little bit thicker than the OEM ones because the doors are so compact. sometimes you might need to cut a wooden ring to extend the speaker away from the door.

 

okay. So do 03 honda accord lx coupe front doors take 6.5 or 5.25" speakres?

 

they can take a 6.5" speaker with a mounting baffle to adapt from the odd three hole mount to a standard 4 hole mount. most of us make these out of wood and then waterproof that wood. if that's more effort than you want, you can buy adapters
