Can you upgrade the 2014 lx radio ?

 

technically, yes.

There is a kit coming out that lets you replace the radio but it cannot control the iMid screen yet and doesn't have the preferences sorted out (like lighting). The backup camera isn't integrated yet either so you'd be losing that feature also.

The factory radio is the hub and controls the images the iMid screen has.

I took another route and installed a single DIN in place of the lower pocket.

what do you want a replacement radio to do that the stock does not?

you can upgrade the speakers, add amps, add subs, and get an OEM interface that accounts for the factory EQ/rolloff.
