Default 00' Accord needs A Tranny! Compatibility?

Hey all,

My 2000 Honda Accord EX 4 cyl 2.3V needs an Auto trans and was wondering if there are other hondas that use the same trans. I was also wondering whe21764086re i could get the best deal on a rebuilt or used trans, i've been looking for the last month and havent done so well in my search.

Anything you guys can tell me would be appreciated.

Thanks again

As far as i know Hondas/Acuras all uses different transmissions, so they're not direct fit from one to another. Your best bet is to get it rebuild with a warranty if you're planning to keep it, if not then just go with a good used unit, and they're not cheap because 98-02 Accord has alot of problems with auto, so they're not cheap.

Negative.

You can use any accord or prelude tranny on your engine. All the F and H series trans have the same bolt pattern. Now the only thing I don't know is from 1998(?) all the ecus had immobilizers and I'm not sure if that effects the tcu. Also I'm not sure since your OBD2 if you can only use a OBD2 trans and or tcu. But I do know for a fact that all the F series and H series trans will bolt to your f23 engine.
So do some digging around and see if what you find out about using a OBD1 trans on a OBD2 car.

Since i said above that they're not direct fit, it means that they don't just plug right in and work with stock ECU, you can get them bolt up, it doesn't means everything will just plug in and work perfect. They are not the same gear ratio, different resistance solenoids, so the TCM is going to set gear ratio error code, and it might not even shift. You can try going with complete tranny, wiring harness and TCM, even then the ECM might not communicate with different TCM from a different vehicle.

Well a OBD1 tranny might have a issue working but any F or H series OBD2 trans will work with no issue (except prelude SH trans) . I found this thread too that shed some light on this issue.

Using obd1 ecu on an auto obd2 civic - Honda-Tech

From what this thread said a OBD2 trans should work with a OBD1 system but not too sure vice versa. Since like you said the solenoids resistance are slightly diff. Also the solenoids work a little bit different in OBD2 since the ECU dose a little more work than the OBD1 auto ecu. But ANY F or H series trans should work. Also the OBD2 ecu dose alittle more about controlling the shift points on the trans so it won't matter what engine it's attached to it
