Default 10W40 for my car?

So I went to my local auto parts store to get oil and the guy there recommended Mobil 10W40 so I just got that, sounded alright to me at the time but now it seems a bit high. It's been warmer than usual lately and he said it would help. Is that too thick for my 95? It's got 163k on it and I'm only planning on running this for this oil change and then going back to the usual. I don't know a lot about oil so I'm kinda lost here

I think 10W40 is a little on the thick side for our motor.

That's what I was thinking. Do you think it will give me any starting problems? If it isn't worth the risk I'll just go back and get the recommended weight.

Personally, I wouldn't take the risk. On a small motor such as ours, it is engineered to use the 5w/30 for proper oil pressure. Just my .02 worth....

It should not hurt I have done it be4 by accident grabbed the wrong oil cus I was in a hurry and didn't realize it until the oil was in the engine. But this was on my f22a so I didn't have vtec. Since you have vtec it MIGHT cause a prob. since vtec runs on oil pressure. Call honda dealer and ask. But I don't think it will hurt.

I've run 15W/40 Mobil 1 Delvac in my Honda Accord with no problems.

Of course I'm in Texas and wouldn't run this grade of oil in winter time.

If you already put it into your car, don't worry about it. If you haven't, then go back & swap it for the proper weight.
