Default 1992 Accord ??Transmission?? issue.

I drive a 1992 Accord, Automatic. Lately, When I start it up, there is a solid green line around the D4 in the dash. It feels as if it is stuck is third gear, slow acceleration, at 4 RPM at 60 MPH, and does not automaticly shift up or down, just stays in this gear. This happens about 50% of the time, either it works perfectly fine, or it has this problem it varies day to day. Even when this problem happens, sometimes it will correct itself after about 15 minutes while driving. I am just wondering if my tranny is going bad? Or my the computer that monitors it or what? Any help would be great, I've had this car for 7 years now and this is the first problem it has ever given me. So I would like to nip it in the bud to prevent any engine damage.

Thank you!!

Amy you need to check your codes and see what "d4" code you are poping.
From the sounds of it...it's prob. you shift solenoids ( the things tha make you shift from gear to gear)
But pop off the pass side kick panal there is a BLUE 2 pole connector. Jump it off with a paper clip then turn your key but don;t turn the car on. The "d4" light will blink. Count the blinks..Long blinks = x10 Fast blinks = x1. So if it blinks 2 long times and 1 short you have a code "21"

then read this...

I have a set of solenoids I can sell you fairly cheap if you want them. Honda sells them for $250 EACH. I sell you a set (both solenoids) for under 50bucks
