Exclamation 2.3 enginge trouble

Hello everyone, My engine is buring oil but not out the exhaust. I pulled the plugs there was no oil redisue but they were white from to much heat. I read these engines have a valve problem. can anyone give me more info on what ia actually happening in there? I am machanicly inclined just need to know about the honda engine. I have not done a tune up yet because I just got the car but befor I do i want to fix the oil problem first. so any info or insite on to what is going on would be great thanks.

Depending on how much oil is being consumed, it may not show up on the plugs.

Things to check:
1) PCV system can pull oil into the intake if the PCV valve or hose is blocked.
2) Valve stem seals can leak. I had this on a Mitsubishi V6 and symptoms were only, oil consumption 1qt/500 miles, puffing oil smoke when engine was fully warmed and a prolonged idle, a burst of oil smoke after an idle at a stop light.

good luck

When I was running 5w30 that it recommends I was burning 2 quarts every 3 days my last oil change I put in 10w30 and I have lost 1 quart in 5 days. So its not to bad now. I have a new pcv valve to put in and then will clean out the egr valve and idler valve is there anything els I should clean out the engine has 90k on it. I get no puffs of smoke when I start or when driving. Thanks for the help
