When engine heats up, car has been idling for sometime, the transmission will not shift. If I turn the car off and back on, the transmission begins to shift correctly. Plenty of transmission fluid, vehichle temperature is good. Any suggestions?

 

Does the engine rev up when you're in gear without gaining momentum or is it not shifting up from 1st gear? There were reports of torque converter failures, although they seemed to happen mainly with the v6 during the '02 through '04 model years.
