Lightbulb 96 lx AT f22 to vtec f22 ( ECU??)

i just got a swap done for free. i needed and engine and my boy threw on a f22 vtec on my lx. now, the vtec is disabled. to make it work, do i need a new ECU that goes with that engine or keep this one and add wires to it.

Also the engine didnt come with a harness so we used the one that was original with my car. everything works but i have no vtec.

And my clockspring broke i think, the horn and cruise controls dont work, and the srs light is on. could that also be because of the harness?

Any help is greatfully appreciated.

You'll need an ECU for that engine. Your old engine wiring harness wouldn't have had any connections to the VTEC solenoid or the VTEC oil-pressure switch.

The VTEC oil-pressure switch is located on the VTEC spool valve. A non-VTEC engine doesn't have any sensor at that location.

The oil-pressure sensor on the back of the block, which sets off the oil warning light in the cluster, is not different for VTEC.

Getting the engine harness for that engine would be good. If not, it's a few extra wires for you to create.

The VTEC spool valve is inside the box marked #9. The VTEC solenoid (#11) has to be wired up. The VTEC oil-pressure switch (#13) has to be wired up.

Jim,
I am new to the forum and reviewing various threads on f22 non-vtec to vtec engines and came across your comment of the VTEC spool etc... My question is what are the numbers that you are associating the items to, a picture, schematic, would like to know. Thanks
Carl

If you get the wiring harness it would be a little bit easier. But if you can don't sweat it. All you need is the vtec ECU and wire the vtec solenoid and the vtec pressure swich to the ecu. Pretty simple.

Accord09,
I embedded a parts drawing and it even transferred into your post when you quoted me. I assume the picture isn't visible to you??

Go to www dot hondaautomotiveparts dot com
