95 F22 sohc vtec into 96 non vtec w/manual
I'm getting ready to swap a 95 f22 sohc vtec into my 96 Accord non vtec w/5spd. I just got the new motor and would like to know if there are any potential issues I'll run into with the install. Also, does anyone have recommendations on cam to use? The motor will be freshened up and the head will be mildly ported, just looking for some combo ideas for fun daily driver. Thank you

I didn't get the ecu because it's OBD1 and an auto. I figured I'd need a 96 vtec ecu. I was gonna try to swap the harness from the original motor and add wiring for vtec and whatever else is different. I was hoping someone knew the wiring differences to save me some research time. Also, I can't find anyone that's doing a cam and headwork without FI. I'd like to find some first hand experience with a different cam, I'm not trying to get a cam that's a ****ty regrind or a poor design. Thanks

You will have to get an EX ECU probably from a 96, so it will plug right into the existing wiring harness.
You will also need a 96 EX distributor and the crank sensor that is under your timing belt cover. Also use the 96 timing belt cover which should have the gap for the sensor wire to come out. If the mounting holes are not there on the 95 oil pump housing, use the one from the 96.
I think wiring up the Vtec to the ECU will be pretty easy. You will have to run 1 or 2 wires from the Vtec solenoid to the ECU. I don't know what pins of the ECU you will need, but I can find out. If you found a 96 EX wire harness, then you would not have to worry about wiring anything up.
