Default 97 Accord DX with f22b1 help?

I am very new to the group and hondas in general for that matter. I have a 1997 Accord DX 5spd that I just bought from a buddy. This car has 228,xxx miles on the body and 12x,xxx miles on the motor. Im not sure if anything else has been done. Theres some sort of background anyways lol. Heres the question.. As far as I understand the DX trim doesnt have the 2.2l Vtec f22b1 from the factory, but the motor they (previous owners) had put in this thing is that motor (f22b1). How do I get the Vtec stuff going? Like I said I dont know much about hondas but I am an auto tech. I worked at a repair shop for 2 years. And I still have access to the shop as well as specialty tools(Snap-on Versus, Diagnostic tools, ect.) and lifts. So thats my situation any help would be greatly appreciated.

Over simple version, more details can be had as we get into this, you will need an ECU from a 96-97 manual EX, then run some wires from the vtec solenoid to the ECU.
