Alternator Problems
#2
Are you testing these altenators at auto parts store for correct functions and finding them failed, or some other diagnostic procedure?
What's your car doing now?
Infant failure of alternators from chain stores is not unheard of, but 3 in 1 year seems incredibly unlucky.
Suggest you monitor voltage via the cigarette lighter socket w/ a Battery Monitor (walmart, etc for abou $15). Normal voltage is 13-15 volts.
good luck

yeah ive been testing them at my local o'ryiles the first one quit charging the second one was under charging at about 11 volts and then this last one was puting about 17 volts through the system. i have the lifetime warranty on the alternator but its geting annoying to have to keep replacing them. and i agree 3 in less then a year is a bit unheard of, thats why i was wondering if there could be something causing them to go out, i do have a sub in my car but its only runing at 300 watts and my room mate has his running at 1300 watts with his alternator not giving him any problems at all and its not a special car audio alternator either

What's status now? If new alternator, suggest the voltage monitor to see what's happening. Voltae should stay w/i range of 12.7-14 volts most of the time. Might excursion above 14 w/ low load and engine recently started.
good luck
