alternator problems 92 accord
Well went outside this morning got into my car and started it , let it warm up for about 5 mins and was just about to put it into drive and take off when I noticed the check battery light was on, which has never happened before. So I turned the car off, and then turned it back maybe it was a glitch or something from the cold but no it continued to stay on. So turned it off again got out pulled out the multimeter and the battery shower 11.17 volts when it should be atleast 12 volts, tunred on the car to test the alternator and the battery contuned to show 11.17 volts it was like the alternator wasn't even there.Anyway left it for awhile came back did the alternator test again and now it shower 13.60 volts so its working. whats up with that, i know its not the battery cables because i checked them and there on that battery really well?
Is this a sign that my alternator is going or is there something else i should be worried about?

the best way to know if your alternator is going out or if your battery is bad is to take both to any auto parts store and they will test them both out for free and let you know.

Give that ALT the caveman test; Smack the top of it to see if the Batt light flickers or goes off.
If that test makesthe light go off or flicker it means the brush pak is worn down to the nub.
The last timeI bought a brush pak from the dealer it cost about $25. Very easy to replace, they are located under the back cover of the ALT.
Repost if you need more help.
