cambelt change?

Default cambelt change?

heya guys,
i pick up my honda accord 1.8 w-reg tomorrow (i live in uk so the w makes it a 2000 model. its petrol.

there isn't much in the way of history

should i get the cambelt done ? its dont around 85000 miles so it hasn't hit the 105k guideline but it is over 7 years old...

i only intend on keeping it for a year or so


would you get it done ?

Well that is a tough call, normally I would always suggest replacing it as the results can be catastrophic if you don't. But since you only plan on having the car for a year it may not be worth it.

It is definitely in need of replacement, and would probably make the resale value of the car higher if you plan on selling it in a year. But its not a cheap procedure to do.

Maybe you should visually inspect it, see if its cracking etc. The value of the car might also come into play, if the car is only worth $1000 or $2000 then maybe its not worth doing.
