Default crank position sensor

I have a 1997 accord se 2.2 automatic. I just replaced timing belts water pump distributer cap and rotor. The car starts and idles fine. Under a load it misses and bogs down. The check engine light is on and show a problem with the crank position sensor. I just checked the wires to it and they are fine. Could I have damaged it when replacing the timing belts? Will I have to remove the timing belts to replace it?

Might be able to clean up the toothed wheel that triggers it,IF the problem is magnetic gunk.

Is it located in the distributer? I looked online and the part they show looks like what is behind the timing pully.

Yes, behind the timing pulley. PITA to dismantle & reach that all over again. Remove crank pulley but maybe dont need to remove timing belts.
