sometimes when i turn on my car, it will sputter and then shut off...unless u rev the engine and throw it in reverse real quick or something

 

Does this happen when the engine is cold or warm or just whenever?

 

well right now its about 45-60 degrees F outside, but it just started happening recently. It will happen when the engine is hot or cold though, i could use the car for an hour shut it off for 10 mins and try to restart and it will take like 5 times. I have to give it alot of gas and if i let off the gas it will shut off.

 

what year/model is it?

search around the forum for "main relay" you may have that age old problem, luckily it's a cheap fix.... it's more commonly related to starting issues but it's not a bad thing to check out.... any lights or codes or does it just flat out die?

 

sputters and dies, no warnings or anything, seems like the engine isnt getting enough fuel

 

Get yourself a fuel pressure tester and check to see what the fuel pump is putting out..
