Default head shave-compression increase

ive heard you can shave your head as an easy way to increase your compression. ex.-ive got a friend who shaved the head on hisstock neon down .030, and he's got a very noticeable increase in power; neons are slow, but with the shaved head and a 5spd that neon runs even with my 91 accord 5spd. most embarrasing.

Any opinions on doing this to the head on a f22a1? im a machinist so it would be very easy for me to do myself.

In theory it sounds right but you risk the chance of blowing out you head gasket. If your going to deck the head or heads you might as well port and polish them the maximize hp or just get a better head.

Not to mention that these are interference engines and if you shave too much, you are going to ram a piston into the valves. A non-interference engine .... it's a good idea. Honda engines ..... I wouldn't.

Could'ntI over tourqe the head a little to avoid blowing gaskets?

I planned on porting the head.

No the torque spec is there for a reason. You would risk blowing out the head gasket even more if you over tighten the head bolts.

If you deck the head so it is level and use a Cometic gasket AND torque to specs in the proper order, I don't think you will have a head gasket issue. I'd be more concerned about killing the entire engine by crushing the valves with the pistons.
