Default Lurching 2006 Honda Accord DX 4 cyl with 249k

Hi! My 2006 Honda Accord DX 4 cyl with 249k has been lurching or sputtering intermittently.

We have been battling this for 3 months. It sure would be incredible if someone could help me!! Thank you in advance!

Lurching/sputtering happens when I first drive up a hill near my house every day (any temperature day cold to 100°). I’m only going about 10-20 mph because I turn a corner and instantly start going up a hill. I let up on the gas, lurching stops and I can gently press on the gas and there will be no lurching. If I accelerate quickly (like turning onto the highway), it starts lurching. Again, I let up on gas, gently accelerate and no lurching. On the highway, it’s fine as long as I accelerate gently and up to around 75 unless I hit an incline, then there is lurching, I let up on the gas, gently accelerate and fine. If I go past 80, it starts lurching again, I let up on the gas and must let it drop to 70 mph before my car responds to me pressing on the gas, if I press on the gas before it drops to 70 mph, the car doesn’t respond at all.

A strange coincidence? My cruise control quit working when this started happening.

Spark plugs changed months before, so they are new. Had the transmission fluid drained and refilled. Oil is always up to date and always changed at Honda.

list of events:
lurching started
check engine light on
Added seafoam
Code: oil pressure switch
changed out oil pressure switch
cleared code
code read: oil pressure switch
changed rocker arm assembly (Honda V-tech valve) includes oil pressure switch, so oil pressure switch changed out for the second time
code: engine runs lean, oxygen sensor bank 1
changed oxygen sensor
Changed PCV valve
problem persisted
took to mechanic
He thought it was ground fault on oil pressure switch
returned car to me with problem
changed the ECM
Checked voltage coming off the alternator and battery=14v
revved the engine to 3000rpm for a few min and it was glowing red where manifold enters catalytic converter.

So! That’s where I’m at right now. I would love to be able to let my son drive this to school his senior year and especially get another 90k miles out of it. I’ve own it since new, so no unknown damage has happened to it.

Thank you so much!! Jill
