Original Timing Belt at 206K
This is a great board. My everyday 95 Honda Accord 2.2L has the original timing belt still at 206K miles. Should I change it? My wife keeps bugging me to do it before it breaks. She says it would ruin other things. It's not the V-Tec motor but does have 4 valves/cylinder. Would it ruin the valves if the timing belt goes? This is my first post here. I just found out I have a bad spark plug tube seal in cylinder 2 which I'm going to fix. Thanks.

that thing has to be rattling like a diesel if you got 206K on the original belt.change that sucker asap as this in an interference engine and if that belt breaks you are looking at a rebuild

I here you guys. I've just been procrastinating......as always. It runs pretty smooth but you guys are scaring me. My wife sure can nag though. I hope she won't read this. I did an oil change on it today, the split boots I put on the CV joints are holding up well. I guess I just have to bite the bullet and do the timing belt. The water pump is on that same side right? The 95 2.2L timing belt change looks a lot easier than the 2001 EX V-Tec other car we have that I will also have to do in a few thousand miles.....my "honey do" list is just too big......maybe she'll make me some chocolate chip cookies if I do it.......I can only hope.....
Thank you all for your input!!!!!

you have 2 choices.
either change your timing belt, or throw away your engine when the belt snaps. Cause it wouldnt be worth fixing the engine, rather just replace it. Everything inside the engine would be bent or fuked up... I think timing belt is one of the most important inside the engine. Its like the heart of the engine...

i agree with everyone. i just had mine replaced.i have about 189,000 on my 96'accord 4cyl vtec. my co-workers 91 prelude broke on the way to work and i have a lot more mileage than his car!! he ended up buying a newer car and still trying to sell his prelude. so don't wait to long. get it done.
