Default Quieting my engine 97 Accord 4cyl

Hey guys
Hopefully you can assist me with a question. I currently have a 97 Accord 4cly with 135k miles. Now I know that for the most part the car is gonna have somewhat of a sound when the vehicle excelerates and is idle. It seems to make a light fluttering sound when excelerating and I was told by many people thats just the way Hondas sound. I bleived that at first UNTIL my friend just bought a 95 Honda with 197k. Her car makes NO sound when you start it up, excelerate or idle. It's sooo quiet that it sounds too good to be true. The only difference other than the 2 year in manufacturing as well as the fact that her engine is a V6.
My question is, could that be the reason on why her engine is sooooo much more quiet than mine, also, is there anything that can be done to quiet my engine any further ?

any advice would be more than appreciated

So you're comparing a 4 banger to a V6.... But you may have a point because a fluttering sound .... sounds like belts. Don't know if you have new belts, or even a new timing belt.
You may remove the AC and alternator belts and run the engine to see if the noise is gone, if yes and the belts are new that's a Honda sound. Take them out of the way before starting the engine.
If the noise is still there you have the timing belt left, do not remove that one. You may have noisy tensioner(s) if they're originals, or the tensioner is not installed correctly - there is a thread on that - but that would be more of a whirring noise. Also look at the belts while the engine is running and see if they flop up/down or they run straight - the longer span.

Good stuff from Draser, plus I wouldn't be surprised if Honda puts more soundproofing in an EX-V6 vs what they do for an LX or DX 4-cyl car.
