Re: Timing Belt replacement
Does anyone have a technique loosen the crank pulley bolt on a 2000 Accord SE?
I've tried the recommended shop tools, impact extension bars/4ft. cheater bar, industrial pneumatic impact gun, propane torch!!!! Nothing has budged/moved this bolt! I've tried unloosening in both directions. A dealer service rep said his techs struggle to get this bolt loose and to check the internet for "creative ways" to accomplish this proceedure. Has anyone been successful replacing timing belts on this model? I have the shop service manual and there is not a hint other than regular proceedure. H-e-l-p-p-p-p-p!!![:'(]

A good impact wrench (500+ lb. ft. of torque) or a breaker bar.
Use the search in my signature for the crank pulley bolt, I know we've discussed different methods that worked for us. Personally, I used a chain wrench on the pulley and then used a *thick* 18" breaker bar with a steel pipe for more leverage.
If you can't get it off yourself, take it to Honda or another shop and ask if they can break it loose for you and tighten it up for your drive home, where you can take it of yourself.
