really loud and sweaky belt

RE: really loud and sweaky belt
There are tensioners for each of the accessory belts. One on the power steering pump and one on the alternator. Kind of hard to explain but easy to do... just loosen up the bolts so the alt/pump can swing and then use the adjuster bolt to adjust tension on the belt. Its something like 1/4" deflection in a 7" span of belt or 1/2" deflection in a 13" span of belt. A Haynes manual will do you good.

The belts will get hard & slippery with age; then they squeak more. Its tempting to over-tighten the belts, but then youll be asking about how to replace alternator bearings...
Squirt water on the belt while its squeaking. If the squeaking does NOT stop, then maybe the noiseIS bearings instead of the belt.

Just replace the belt, the spray is a gimmick. If you want to save some money on a belt... just take the A/C and P/S out and use the DX belt... thats what I did! lol
