Default ticking sound in engine...possibly lifters?

a couple months back i bought myself a 2000 accord witht eh 3.0 vtec in it. up until last week or so everything was running fine on it until i noticed a light ticking sound coming from the back of the engine around the heads. i know enough about cars to do a little work on them here and there but not enough to pinpoint a problem. i think it might be the lifters but i'm not sure on it. has anyone else experienced something like this with their car? if so what was your problem. i want to try to figure out what it is so i can fix it before something major breaks in it.

might need a valve adjustment. Also check to see if your headers are lose. That can cause a ticking sound as strange as it seems.
