weird tranny response
hey all, my auto tranny is acting a little funny. I can shift from 1-2-d3-d4 fine at low RPM. But when I start to get in the higher range (4k-6k), 1-2-d3 do fine, when I engage d4, it goes into nuetral for just a brief second, then does into 4th gear. At low rpm it's fine, at high rpm it slips a little i guess. Anyone know whats up with my slush box? Could a tranny flush do anything to help it?Maybe a tranny cooler? idk. Thanks ahead of time.

RE: weird tranny response
Do not ever do a tranny "flush".
Drain the fluid once, refill, drive car for a few minutes; drain fluid again, refill, drive car for a few minutes; drain fluid again, refill. That is the procedure for changing your trans fluid.
Only about 1/3 of the fluid comes out per drain, that's why you got to do it 3 times.

I havn't touched the tranny fluid since I got the car. It is still orange lookin, so i assume it's still good. AAMCO seconded me on that. If I do get my tranny fluid changed, where's the best place to do it? Honda dealership?

RE: weird tranny response
As long as Honda ATF is used, it really shouldn't matter who does the change. I think that I figured out what causes the 3-4 gap in the gear change. I think that the gap might be the lock-up solenoid releasing the torque converter. Our trannies don't lock up in first or second gears which would explain that it is only the 3-4 shift. The lock-up function basically makes the fluid connection that is the torque converter into a solid connection, eliminating the torque converter's function at high rpm's. This gives a little more power and efficiency.
