Yes the CEL is back on but I haven't had a chance to scan it yet. My guess is it will read only the P1519. Before last wknd I never got a P0505.
The coolant level is good. I'll scan it tomorrow after she gets home from work as well as an update on wether or not it happens again. It's parked in the garage tonight which does stay warmer than out front.

Thanks for the input on the Seafoam as well.

I checked it this morning. It is the P1519 again.

The P1519 is a circuit failure so cleaning won't help this problem. Most likely an intermittent break in the solenoid winding causing the fault. It may open when the engine is warm, and close when engine is cold. If you check IACV solenoid while engine is fully warmed, you may see the fault (open circuit).

It could also be a faulty connector or wiring fault, but these are somewhat less likely, particularly since it's an intermittent fault.

good luck

Hmm. So the solenoid and the valve, are they sold seperatly? I have a used valve, could i try just changing the solenoids betwwen the two? Im assuming your talking about the elctrical part of the valve that the three wire connector plugs into. If not im missing something.
And this morning it was parked in the garage and had no problems. It only seems to have a surging idle when the car is extremely cold. Not just normal cold starts.

Never seen them separately. Strictly speaking, the solenoid is the electromagnet-windings inside the thing.

I got ya. Yeah I've got the used one but I'm not sure it's for this car. I called dude over at the Rancho Cordova Honda place in Cali and he said there are two different ones. He said the one he sent me works for 90%. I told him it wasn't the same as mine and now he wants me to send him a pic. Not sure how I'm going to get a pic of the IACV while it's installed but we'll see. If I can get the right one maybe I'll try the cleaning method again on that one. Not sure what else to do other than buying one brand new and hioping for the best. Not a big fan of that idea.

So I went to the dealership today and got a new gasket for the IACV. I noticed that my wifes car is loosing coolant and it's internally. The line that didn't have coolant running through it and I though should is the air line that comes off the IAC. Well it shouldn't have coolant in it and it does so atleast I know where the coolant is going.

The dealership couldn't cross refrence any of the numbers on the valve I got so I have know idea if it should work for her car or not. I still can't figure out for sure if her's is bad. And now I'm leaking coolant into the engine as well.

I think the IACV IS supposed to have coolant in those hoses.

I'm not sure. It's got three hoses and I thought only two of them should have coolant running through them. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I don't remember the third hose, but it's been awhile since I owned a 98. The 2 shown here are water.
