my wife has an 01 Accord with a 4 banger in it. she is wondering how much fuel is used while sitting idle in the car pool line with the A/C on.

 

Sir-Please don't take this wrong....in the south, this time of year, your wife and kid(s) in the car....does it really matter?

Slightly more than with the ac off, ok car off a bunch but then you have to start if so I'd call it even.....

Tell her she and the kid(s) are worth it and you MIGHT get out of the doghouse????

 

Thats what I told her..LOL...I found that it uses about 0.36 gallons an hour at idle with the AC on. So that would be 0.18 gallons per 30 mins (which is about the same time in the car pool line). 0.18 gallons times 5 days of the week in line = 0.9 gallons a week which cost about $3.40 per week. I think I can afford that over the hospital bill for my over heated 2 yr old..LOL

 

Too many numbers, i'm going dizzy lol, if they're just sitting there in traffic then it will be 0 mile per gallon :-)
