01 EX 6cyl Automatic Tranny Problem
Noticed what seemed to be slipping, quick shift from 2nd to 3rd a couple weeks ago. Check engine light came on. Checked with reader and no codes found, cleared light and all seemed ok. Now when the car comes to a stop there is a large 'clunck' from the tranny. Problem 'clunck' can be heard (and felt) at rest in garage when shifting from low to 2nd or 3rd to 2nd. Check engine light came on and will check codes tonight.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

RE: 01 EX 6cyl Automatic Tranny Problem
So the Accord was taken to the shop this morning. The technician knew as soon as he shifted gears that there was no hope for the tranny. It needs to be replaced after only 47k miles. Quote was $3000+. But what about Honda reliability? Surprisingly this sort of thing happens...

After calling many dealerships and getting everything from lectures on maintenance to nearly hung up on, I found a dealer that actually listened to by story and did some investigation. After giving the VIN #, I learned that Honda put an extended warranty (7 years, 100k miles) on the tranny for this car. Apparently, they knew of some issues with the transmissions. Now we'll see if I can get a loaner vehicle while the tranny is being replaced.
I must say I wasn't too impressed with a couple of the dealerships in the SF Bay Area. Surprising how different they all are.

I'm so glad that you found a good dealer that wants to take care of you not your wallet. Were it me, I would change the tranny fluid at 15K intervals until you sell/trade the car.
