Default 01 Honda Accord Auto Trans. Fluid Change?

My niece has a 2001 Accord, 4 cylinder with 78,000 miles on it. It has never had the automatic transmission fluid changed. I have heard some people say if it has not been changed since new, let it go and do not change it. Any ideas on how to proceed?

Wow change it ASAP man. Tranny fluid should be changed every 30k miles. Also don't flush it just drain and refill.

I think the owner's manual calls for changing it every 60k or 90k miles. So you're not way out there according to the factory. I'd drain it & refill. Take a look at the color & smell of the stuff that drains out, let us know...

60k is already asking for trouble not to mention 90k. Remember he has the 98-02 tranny which has a huge failure rate.

Jack the car up, get a 3/8 ratchet, put it in the drain bolt (its the only one that it'll fit into) on the pass side. After that its just like changing your oil but without the filter.
