01 Steering Issue - FL Wheel "Loose"

I have had a handling/steering issue for a several weeks that seems to be getting progressively worse. Hard to describe but there is a "looseness" in the front driver side wheel. Pulled the FL wheel and didn't see any damage. Put the wheel back on and bearing checked out fine. The outer tie rod also seems fine. Had my son turn the steering wheel back and forth and there is a distinct clunking sound from inside the FL steering boot. Does the 01 Accord have an inner tie rod? I found an exploded view diagram of the steering system and there is something called an "End Set" for about $40 bucks that seemed like an inner tie rod. Is this my problem? I hope so because the steering gear is $950.
Thanks for your help.

this is what you do to chk the inner tie rod for looseness
raise the car in the air, grab the wheel and move it side to side see if there is any play, if you feel play, have someone move the wheel while you loook to see if inner tie rod has any movements ,, if so, to replace the inner tie rod is pretty simple.. also chk to make sure that the p/s rack support bushings are ok and that the holding bracket bolts are tight ..
and at ,you do need a p/s rack you can guy a reman rack for about 250-300 dollars ..
