Default 01 V6 CP auto trans issues

The Girlfriend just bought a 01 Coupe with about 150000 on the clock for 3700. CEL was on for "Miss shift detected". I told her not to spend more than 3k on the car but she got suckered and I let her make her own mistake.

Anywho... Because I'm a nice guy I'm helping her out(And I like the car).
I reset the CEL and had Honda flush the Transmission, no luck. It still shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and the CEL came back. Honda said "Bad pump or torque converter". I'm now stuck with making the repair... -_-
I was considering going with a Junkyard MT off the 03 V6 as it can be had for around 1k. Is it worth it? I'm seeing some outrageous swap prices That all seem to be set stupid high. I'm assuming that they are all prices for new parts... Is it hard to do? I consider my self fairly proficient with a hammer... I've replaced my own transmission on my Prelude and Started a H22 swap on my old 95 accord.

Has anybody here even done the MT swap?
Anybody near Attleboro MA want to help me for a case of Beer? lol

You could look into having it rebuilt, it might be cheaper and easier. Otherwise it's pretty straight forward to install, since you've already done one transmission you shouldn't have problems.

I wonder if it is possible to use a 95-97 accord V6 automatic transmission on the 6th gen V6? I'm not even sure if that transmission will bolt up to your 01 V6.

This forum is geared towards repairs and troubleshooting. There are other forums that you might want to look at like hondaswap.com or 6thgenaccord.com.

Let us know how this turns out.
