I am having a loud grinding sound that sounds like it is coming from the middle of the engine bay. I just replaced the CV axles, and there are no brake or wheel bearing issues. The grinding gets louder as I accelerate, and it grinds in N and Reverse. I also just had a grinding sound putting the car in park yesterday for the first time ever. If anyone is experienced enough to comment on whether this could be a differential issue, possible input shaft bearing, pinion seal, or anything else I am not thinking of I would appreciate it.

 

Check the installation, but you could have a bad CV joint out of the box?

 

If I remember right there is a transmission part that causes the noise when you put it in park and it come from going from reveres to drive while the car is still moving.

 

Did the noise start after you replaced axles?? If it also grinds in neutral I am assuming car is not moving so,I would have to exclude a bad axle , possibility the axle is not all the way in the tranny???

 

What happens if you jack up one front wheel at a time and put the car in neutral, and turn the wheels by hand so you can listen to the rubbing without engine noise?
