02 honda accord d4 light
i just got a 2002 honda accord 3.0 automatic with 135,000 miles.
The tcs light comes on and stays on.
the D4 light will flash and wont do into overdrive
I can restart the car ans the d4 light is gone and the car drives fine. It does shift hard sometimes.
Does anyone know if this is common and what it is? It has been doing this for about a month. Some days it does some days it doesn't. seems to be something electrical since restarting it makes it instantly go away. Transmission fluid is full.

Will it throw a code on an OBD2 if there is no check engine light on?

Okay found out that the check engine was flashing just didn't have a working bulb. Fixed it and Code came up P0780. Shift malfunction. ... Also said I had a few cylinder miss fires.

Transmission: my advice: before replacing solenoids, flush your ATF completely. Some people prefer multiple drain and fills (d/f), but I like a full flush using the cooler line method. Whatever method you use, get new fluid in the transmission; check your manual but you should have a 7.6 qt capacity. Then, add one or even two 10 oz bottles of Lubegard Red; do not overfill. Drive the car for a few hundred miles and your problems may be solved. Lubegard is well respected and known to remedy shifting problems and loosen/clean valve bodies and solenoids. Do your own research. Contact Lubegard with your questions about the best amount of Lubegard to use for your situation.
What's more, get away from Honda Genuine ATF; many feel it's inferior to universal ATF's. I personally like Valvoline Maxlife ATF because of its value and it's full synthetic -- which means it can withstand heat better and resist slipping and clutch glazing better. Others like Amsoil, Redline D4 and even Royal Purple -- but those are boutique ATFs at a higher price. Again, do your own research about Honda ATF.
