05 accord 4cy Air Filter
Generallly do the small maintenance since the dealers will charge me and arm and a leg just to change an air filter.
OK....got my new filter, found the filter box next to the battery, loosen the 4 screws,(love those type screws, they cant come out of the hole after loosen.
All set the cover is ready to come off, but there are several attachments to the box, I see on the air intake large tube there is a device attach that runs to the top of the engine, there is another electronic device attach to the filter box.
Whats the easiest way to proceed?

once those screws are loose make sure that there are not any clips holding it on. If there's not then it should just lift up/off. Once it's off pull the old filter and slap in the new one.

The electronic device on the filter box is your air mass flow meter. Unplug the wire.
I've found it's easier if I remove the rubber air duct to the throttle body. This means removing 1 or 2 small air lines.
Just label everything (or draw a picture) so you don't mix them up when putting it back together. But most of that stuff doesn't even reach or fit to the wrong place.

well...try as I did I STILL can't get that air filter in....
I tried to disconnect those rubber hoses, twist and pull and its like they are glued on those pipes
Im now thinking this air filter has NEVER been changed in its entire 11,000 miles and most of the assembly is still factory original parts.
I returned that $11.00 air filter to Advance Auto and offered anyone inside $10 to replace it but no takers.
SOOO I guess I got to go to the Honda dealer and pay what??? $40....****!!!

RE: 05 accord 4cy Air Filter
I (almost) had the same problem as you tonight. Took off the 4 screws on my 2005 4-cly Accord and could not get to the air filter out. Read another form and some guy said after removing the 4 screws unclip the hard (maybe metal)hose coming off the engine and into the side of the air intake rubber pipe. I did it and sure enough, with some minor pushing it was clear. Air filter changed (after vaccuming the box) and I was back in business. The clip to remove is a thin wire spring clip (not the one a littler further back with the thicker wire). It is shaped like a cup on one end. It was soooo easy. I hope this helps you on your next attemp.
PS- I almost moved the battery too...haha...no need.
