05 Accord Navi Code Problem

05 Accord Navi Code Problem
My 2005 Accord with 109K miles recently keeps asking me for the 4 digit NAVI codes on start up. Even when the battery was replaced over the years it never asked for the NAVI codes but now it requests the code every 3rd or 4th time the car is started. It is rather annoying to have to constantly input the code, and then wait up to 10 minutes for the car to "find" a navigational signal (where I'm instructed to keep the car running in a stationary position for 10 minutes). The NAVI DVD disc was updated around a year ago. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the whole NAVI unit, which since my extended warranty expired, will undoubtedly be expensive?

I think alpine makes the navi unit. You should call the number for Alpine below. Verify they make the Navi unit on your car. Ask if your problem is something that they would have to repair in the Navi unit. Also ask the cost of the repair. For the TSXs Navi it was ~$160.

I recently had Nav DVD in my MDX rebuilt by Alpine. It was $158 flat rate repair. Call Alpine number to make sure of shipment address. It was changed from their website directions when I shipped.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not so tool handy -- who took your navi unit out/reinserted it for the repair. How difficult was it to do this?

I have an 05 Acura TSX, so my car is similar to yours. It wasn't too bad to take out my unit. The details are likely different, since the interiors are different.
My best advice is to buy a shop manual on a site like Ebay. Some sell the manual as a pdf, and you can download it pretty quickly after your paypal payment goes through. Mine was around $22 from a seller called automanualsource. This will save you a ton of time when attempting to do DIY work. It will pay for itself if you follow the instructions to pull out the navi unit yourself.
