Question 07 accord lx 5sp manual vss trouble

I've aqiured a 2007 Accord LX with a 5sp manual from my daughter, the clutch was replaced reciently, do to idiot drivers (not her). The trans VSS was removed and then replaced in tranny. when I picked the car up the sensors anchor bolt was not tight. I discovered that the sensor head had been knocked off. replaced it with a new one from honda. Drove the car about 50 ft when it died. Pulled the sensor out and the head on the replaced sensor had been tore off also. Could a piece of the original sensor tip be stuck inside the tranny where the sensor is located? Any ideas before I tear the tranny out again?

After you remove the speed sensor (aka pick-up assembly), examine to see if it is intact. (The attached picture from CarQuest shows how it should look like intact.) Make sure when you install a new one, to also install the washer, #12 in parts diagram, it is works as a spacer too.

Default Problem sloved I hope

Thanks for the input. The person who installed the clutch told me to bring it by and he would put a Shim under the new pick up assembly. I thought that comment was a little odd, now i know he forgot to put the washer back on the original one. Thanks again

No problem. Yep, that's what I was suspecting had happened which contributed to the problem.
