Question '07 Accord V6 - Noise in the front

I'll do my best to explain what I am hearing but it might be a little difficult.

I have a 2007 Accord V6 EXL with about 55k miles on it and recently I have been hearing this (almost) faint whistling? noise in the front of my car... I hear this noise when I am traveling at low speeds (~5-20 MPH) whenever I put a little pressure on the gas pedal. It may be happening at higher speeds but with road noise I can't tell. The noise goes away whenever I take my foot off the gas.

I can particularly hear the noise when driving past parked cars or when I am driving up a steep incline, like my drive way.

When the car is in park I don't hear anything suspicious, but (when still in park) that noise will reappear when I press the gas... same when in N.

I took the car into my local Honda dealer a few weeks ago and they couldn't reproduce the noise (they only had it for a limited time) but they said if I heard it again then I should bring it back and they will dig deeper.

Just wondering what everyone else thought... not sure it would be a wheel bearing since I can still hear that noise when in park and when I press on the gas.

I'm gonna make another appointment this week and see what they find.

If you hear the noise when the car isn't moving, then it is unlikely a suspension/bearing problem.

It could be from the serpentine belt, or one of the components it drives.

It may be due to the idler pulley. See Honda technical service bulletin, it has a sound clip too.

I'm not much of an engine person but could it be the timing belt? In my manual it says you should replace that at 60k miles and I'm at 55k right now.

The regular interval, for the timing belt is 105k miles. I believe 60k is for "EXTREME" climates (below -20 degrees, or above 120 degrees). Is your car "regularly" driven in these temperatures?

That doesn't mean that something related to the timing belt isn't making the noise. Just saying, unless you live in an extreme climate, the timing belt isn't due to be changed until 105k miles. You could eliminate anything being driven by the drive/accessory belt, by removing it, and see if the noise goes away. Just don't run the engine without the drive belt for very long, because the alternator will not charge the battery, or try to drive it without the power steering.
