i just got a new old 1988 honda accord lxi and i have a new shifter **** and i cannot figure out how to take the old one off. i have seen other people just twist and pull down but this method isnt working for me. please can someone help

 

Is this for an automatic or stick?

Either way, the spoon site I posted in the online manuals thread in the DIY section has an 86-89 shop manual that will show you how to change it out.
