Default 1989 accord CV boot question

Hi,
I'm trying to replace a cv boot on an 89 accord LX (passenger side)..is the axle nut thread a "righty tighty-lefty loosie" or is it reverse thread??? thus far, I am unable to break it loose...even with some "extension"

Help would be appreciated...thanks

It's a regular thread bolt.

Did you straighten out the part of the nut that is punched into the axle? I bought a 36mm wrench for $10 and just jump on it to loosen mine. Tightening torque is 181-ft. lbs.

This nut can be brutally tight. I've found a good air impact is usually successful. A good 1/2" x 18"L breaker bar w/ 2-3 feet of cheater pipe as suggested by JimBlake is also a sure thing. You may need a jack stand to support the extension/breaker bar head to allow you to pull on the business end of the breaker bar w/ extension.

good luck

doo dee doo dee doo....Just thought I might stop by and offer up this little trick.
Use the weight of the car to generate the force.
Put the socket on the nut [tire back on without hub cap] then put the end of the breaker bar handle close to the ground.
Rock the car.
All that is needed is to be smarter than a nut. LOL ;-]
