Default 1990 heater control valve question

The heater control valve cable has come loose (underneath the interior panel) and it's stuck in the permanent on (heat) position. If I reach into the engine compartment and switch the valve to off (at least until I get some time to fix it) could there be any adverse effects? It doesn't seem like there would be but its 95 out here most days and this is my daily driver so I wanted to check with some people who would know better.

Thanks, appreciate it.
