Hey guys can someone tell me what the difference is between the 2008 v6 vtec 6mt engine from the 2009? i know the HP is 3hp less then the 2009, but is there any other differences on the motor itself? will a 2008 motor work in a 2009 ? is there anything extra to be done to make it work ? my motor has a rod knock and can only find a 2008 v6 engine, any help would be appreciated it, thanks.

I cannot answer your question with absolute certainty, but I can say over in the Acura TL world there were in fact subtle differences in the engines between the manual transmission variety and the automatic. Most bone yards (auto recycling yards) have an interchange book which can give you a definitive answer.

Ahhh, you didn't make that clear in your original post. I'm guessing they are interchangeable, but I would confirm that via the interchange guides available at your local bone yard.
