Default 1990 Honda Accord Blinking Green "S" w/ Poor Acceleration

Our 1990 Honda Accord DX has a blinking green "s" light with poor acceleration problem.

Every now and then the green "s" light will continually blink (there are no pauses in between and doesn't stop). And when it does, the car has really poor acceleration. When the "s" isn't blinking, the car accelerates fine.

It doesn't always happen and not sure what the pattern is of when it occurs. However, it "seems" to happen after driving around a while. Also, if we stop, turn off the car, and then turn it back on ... the blinking "s" goes away and the car runs fine again.

Any ideas?

By the way ...

We've done quite a few things to the car related to other issues hoping it would fix this as well, but no luck. Haven't figured this out yet. Things we've done

1. Basic tune up (new wires, plugs, cap, and rotor)
2. New (refurbished) battery
3. New (refurbished) alternator
4. Replaced value cover gasket (oil was spilling in 3rd spark plug value).

Sounds like TCM fault. Common problem w/ 90-93 Accords. Used or rebuilt is usual solution but some have managed to DIY (search this forum).

Honda Electronic Transmission Problem- Troubleshoot, Inspection, Repair, Replace.

good luck
