Car quick starting suddenly. Would only turn over but never start. My husband replaced main relay but still doing the same, only turning over without starting, but this time noticed strong smell of gas when attempting to start it. Any advice on what the problem might be since replacing the main relay didn't solve our issue? Thanks

 

Likely an ignition fault of some sort. Check for spark at the plugs, and also test the coil/ignitor for correct voltage. Use a timing light to check each spark plug wire for voltage from the coil/ignitor to the plugs. Replace the distributor cap and rotor as well. I would also carefully hunt for the source of the fuel smell as this could be dangerous. Keep us informed and good luck.
