Default 1992 Accord Stall problem

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 1992 Honda accordex as a project car for myself its 5 speed and is quite fun to drive. I have allready did some modifications to it its lowered and has a new air intake but i recentlty have been having some problems with it.

Anyways, the car starts fine, always has plenty off pull, and goes all through the revs range. But,sometimes as i come to stop and put the clutch in, the revs drop as they should but seem to miss the idle point and carry on down to 0 and stall on me. This doesnt always happen though. It just seems to happen at irregular intervals. Sometimes the revs will drop to nearly zero, and its almosat like the engine suddenly notices its gonna die, and then kicks in the revs, up to 2, 2.5k to compensate, and keepsgoing from zero back to 2k then down and up over and overand most of the time eventually stalls when i start to accelerate again. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this problem and the things i should check first?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

-Matt

I think that cleaning both sides of the throttle plate and bore using throttle body cleaner and an old toothbrush may help out.

There is a screen to the idle air control valve that can get clogged up over time that you may want to clean as well.

If that doesnt fix it, maybe you should go thru the whole procedure of properly setting the BASE idle.
