Exclamation 1994 EX automatic

Symptoms:
-non-funcitonal speedometer
-D4 gear selector blinking
-harsh/delay shifting
-can't get into higher than 2nd gear
-odometer non-finctional
-erratic iddling
-idle surges when in park or neutral

I've switched out the Transmission output speed sensor like a lot of peopel suggested. But that did not solve the problem. Could it be the VSS as well?
Also, when I googled output speed sensor and input speed sensor, they look exactly the same. Is there actually a difference? And is output speed sensor the same as main shaft speed sensor?

What code(s) are you getting from the "D4" light?

I didn't get any code at all, even though the check engine light and ABS light come on occasionally, only when I'm driving.

So when you jump the service connector on the pass side the CEL, D4 and ABS lights do nothing?

Have you tested the VSS?

The lights didn't do anything. I checked the paper clip to be sure but nothing. I checked the connecor to the VsS and that's good. How do i check the VSS itself?

There are three wires to the VSS. Start with testing;

BLK - continuity to ground
YEL - battery voltage
ORN - should be around 5v

Still find it strange you are getting "nothing" when you short/jump the service connector.
