Default 1995 Honda Accord EX 2.2 L Vtec acceleration problems

I have 1995 Honda Accord EX 2.2 liter vtec. I am having problems with it bogging down when accelerating. I have to down shift or really get on the gas to get it to not act up. I have changed the fuel filter, air filter, cleaned the EGR valve, changed the spark plugs and wires, the distributor cap and rotor. The problem is still there. It only does it when the temperature outside is warm. I had no problems over the winter. My speedometer is also jumping and only works when it wants too. I read online that this could be from the vehicle speed sensor going out. Could this be what is causing my acceleration problem?

When the speedometer is acting up, does the odometer stop working too? Does the cruise control work when the speedometer is acting up?

Sagging during acceleration can be caused by improper EG distribution in the EG manifold. The manifold must be removed and cleaned. EGR valve is rarely the cause of this problem.

good luck

Yes the odometer has stopped working also. I do a lot of in town driving so I have not checked the cruise control. But the last time that I tried to use it, it worked.

The 5th gen 4 cyl have the egr "chamber". There is a good write up in the "Common DIY Threads" sticky at the top of this section...
