My Accord has 235000 miles and this winter I noticed the trans hanging between 1st n 2nd first thing in morning. Now, however, the car will not accelerate over 60mph, constantly upshifts and makes a lot of exhaust/engine noise but speed wont increase. I have to back off throttle to get it downshift . it threw error codes of evap canister leak and cat converter threshold to low...i reset codes with scan tool and cat code has not come back but it throws double evap codes. It surges at 60mph also...but after resetting codes it ran pretty decent to and from work for one day, then back to running like crap??? I drive 90mi/daily round trip to work all hwy. any help??

 

Does resetting the codes always return the car back to normal?

Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

 

A guy from work told me resetting codes would make it run better but it actually didnt. It did, however, run better when it re-threw the evap canister code p1457. But like i say, it was short lived and may just have been coincidence. I also get exhaust gas coming back inside when it shifts to a lower gear and turns 4000rpm to try and maintain 60mph. You can press down on pedal and all it does is downshift again...it wont gain speed til u let out of it and it drops back into higfh gear, but then it barely gains speed and not at all uphill. Car is surging the whole time???

 

Did the cat ever get checked?
