The parts drawing here doesn't give me much of a clue.

I had a 1998 automatic & didn't have to adjust the cable. Not sure if some of that stuff at the forward end of the cable is the adjustment. (The forward end of the cable is down on the bottom of the transmission.)

I had a .pdf copy of the shop manual but with a couple different computers I've lost track of it. If I can find it I'll show what it says about that.

 

Thanks for the drawing. I'll keep an eye on it and if something else happens, I'll work on it.
Son bought a wrecked '98 Accord (see other thread), so I'll be helping him on that, then get back to this.

Thanks Jim! While the cover is off, I think I'll change the light bulb too.

 

Replaced gear position sensor - problem fixed.
