Default 1998 Accord Reverse problem

My 1998 Honda Accord is giving me problems with backing up. It seems to have no problem backing up short distances on flat ground (like out of a parking spot) but if going up a hill or more than 10-20 feet it looses power and doesn't continue backing up. I've read that it could either be a bad transmission or a bad solenoid, but I haven't found any definitive answers. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Thanks in advance for your help!

I would start by checking the fluid level in the transmission? When was the last time you had the transmission fluid changed? What brand fluid did you use?

Also, was any work been done on your car right before this started happening?
